This years Akuma University Winter National Championships have been bigger and better than ever before, with students and graduates competing together over 4 days in 7 different categories. egf once again took the tournament by storm, with new cutting edge teamwear designs, and sponsored players winning more accolades than ever before!
For Loughborough university the upper Intermediate team of Alec Banner-eve, Warwick Forman and Georgie Wathes battled through to win 1st place, with Alec picking up the coveted MVP award.

Edward Shelton (egf partner), Natalie Armson and Nick Henley won their division for SAPA (The Schools Alumni and Polo Association) after beating Reading Alumni, Birmingham Alumni and Los Locos Pollistas. A much deserved win from a strong team, with Edward scoring more goals than any spectator could hope to count!

And finally, George Shelton (egf partner) competed in both the open (unlimited handicap and the highest national university division) and the Lower Intermediate category for Regent's College. Under his captaincy, Regent's college won the Open match against St Andrews in four fast paced and impressive chukkas, crowning Regent's national university champions with George being named also as MVP. George also competed alongside Amy young and Lucie Cowan in a combined team, bringing his total to 12 chukkas in just two days with 8 in fast succession on sunday - leading George to rethink the number of teams he plays for next year for the sake of his health!
All in all a fantastic few days, and an invaluable opportunity to get a real feel for the needs of today's champion polo players.
