White Birch vs. Great Oaks in Hampton Cup Finals It’s official, in a remake of the Mercedes-Benz Cup finals, White Birch will be meeting Great Oaks in the finals of the 2009 Hampton Cup.

White Birch rolled over Certified 12-7 in the day’s opening match followed by a thriller in which Great Oaks relied on an overtime goal from 10-goaler Sebastian Merlos to capture a 16-15 victory.

Black Watch had trailed by as many as six goals early in the contest before fighting back to knot it up at 15-15 at the end of regulation play, but it was Great Oaks with the win and a berth in the finals of the 2009 Hampton Cup.

White Birch rolled into the finals of the Mercedes-Benz Cup with a perfect 5-0 record before being humbled by Great Oaks 13-12, and will be entering this weekend’s Hampton Cup finals with another unblemished record.

Great Oaks will rely on the strategy and team leadership from Merlos in an effort to sweep the Bridgehampton season.
